LISA MARIE BRODSKY AUTER, PTP, MADISON, WISCONSIN, USA
I work as a Peer Support Specialist and Group Facilitator at a mental health agency in Madison, Wisconsin (US). Both my work and life have been informed and transformed by using poetry and creative writing to navigate my own mental health experiences. I have written poetry since childhood and grew up with the innate knowledge that writing offers comfort, validation, and hope. My passions organically led me to discover poetry therapy and I began training in earnest.
As part of my poetry therapy work, I facilitate various writing groups online and in the Madison area. My initiative, “Hiraethlon,” invites others to reimagine their concept of longing, belonging, and to investigate their creative and emotional identities. In poetry therapy, I focus on the intersection between emotional narrative reframing, poetry, and “parts work” from the IFS therapeutic model.
